We had a delightful tour with Maartje. She met us promptly at the train station as promised and provided a very informative tour. We enjoyed hearing about her city and seeing so very much of Haarlem. When we passed through her neighborhood, several people smiled and greeted her by name - it helped to make us feel welcome, too! Maartje was quick to answer email prior to the tour and was willing to work with us on arranging a time that worked with our schedule. She offered to help with any of the logistical items that we might need to get from Amsterdam to Haarlem and back. We stopped at shops that were of our interest and had a delightful and relaxing cup of coffee near the end of our time together. We smiled, laughed and talked throughout the entire tour. Many thanks for a wonderful experience!
The entire experience with Kathryn was delightful. She promptly responded to our request and gathered information on our preferences in order to plan a route that we would enjoy. We asked to see places that we might not find on our own and we were not disappointed! We visited an art gallery and a chocolate shop where we enjoyed a chocolate beer. We discovered great places to shop and dine and viewed the architecture and street art along the way. Near the end of our time together, Kathryn offered her contact information so that she could assist with directions or questions that we might have during the remainder of our stay. Later that evening she sent an email that listed all of the places we visited with links to additional information for each. It was very appreciated and useful as we returned to some of those places on our own. It was a wonderful experience filled with great conversation that truly captured the local feel of London!
Michael and John were lovely company and really easy going. We had non-stop conversation about all sorts of things and they were keen to know about lots of different aspects of London and British life...not to mention getting a grip on 'tube etiquette'. They were also enthusiastic foodies, with chocolate beer (from the most amazing boutique chocolate makers) and fresh Turkish gozleme in the mix. And as far as walking goes...they had no problem keeping up with me and burning off the beer!
