It was raining hard for most of this tour, and luckily it was in the beautiful glass-covered passageways of the 9th Arrondissment. Tim shared a lot of history on the architecture we passed and helped me understand the reasons for the city planning that led to the large avenues and beautiful buildings of the area. I felt I was coming to understand Paris at a deeper level. The passage ways are beautiful gems with interesting stories. I was so happy to have the chance to take this tour with Tim. He is very knowledgeable, as well as easy going and fun to be with. Discovering Paris with him is a real treat.
I loved this tour!! Tim is very knowledgeable about all the history of the area, and I learned so much. As he walked us through tiny cobble stone streets to different places of interest, I became more and more familiar with the rich history of this great city. Tim is easy going, and answered all my questions as they came up. The neighborhood was beautiful as well as interesting. The views from Buttes Chaumont were stunning, and I never felt like I was just one of many tourists. It really is an interesting and undiscovered part of the city. Tim went out of his way to make sure I found the meeting place easily, and gave good directions on how to return home. Since I hadn't yet bought a meal in Paris, he even helped me navigate buying sandwiches and snacks at a Boulangerie. He is the best!
I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of Montmartre with Carolyn. She was great at communicating before we met and answered all the questions I had. Her directions for meeting for our tour were clear and easy to follow. We met early enough in the day that there were not a lot of tourist about which made the tour more enjoyable for me. She told me personal stories of her life growing up in the neighborhood, as well as showing me key spots that were featured in the movie "Amalie". Carolyn is warm and engaging, and we had a great time. She even gave me tips on buying cheeses! This was a really fun way to meet a French person and learn a little more about her city.
