A pioneering figure in the Irish food industry in his early years, Jim Dempsey was recognised by the renowned Bridgestone Food Guiides as an important figure in the organic sector. He retired from his seminal food shop, What On Earth, to become a full time parent to his four children after a move to the Wicklow Mountains. He was nominated for a Father of the Year award in one of Ireland's national newspapers in 1995. He has written and taught classes in nutritional therapy and is a passionate and intuitive cook. He ran a catering company, Natural Gourmet, from his home and served clients in Ireland, Holland and the U.S.A. Food and wellbeing have always being at the centre of Jim's daily life. He is a qualified Complimentary Health Therapist. He earned qualifications in multiple disciplines including nutrition. He devised and teaches a food coaching program to aid people manage their diet and nutrition. He began working as a tour guide in 1999 after an encounter with Con Moriarty of Hidden Ireland Tours in Kerry. He conducted private tours throughout Ireland for a few seasons. After a short-lived initial career Jim returned to guiding in 2010 and is now a qualified Failte Ireland Dublin City and Environs tour guide. He works with private clients as well as having a role as Tour Guide Manager in one of Ireland leading tour companies where he hires, trains, manages and leads a team of guides. He also works with a leading food tour company leading food tours of Dublin. Jim is a native of Dublin and has lived in Wicklow (10 years), Galway (4 years) and Cork (4 years) with short spells in Dingle, The Burren, Connemara and Donegal before returning to his native city Dublin in 2008. His leading attribute however comes from the most common feedback he gets - he is always smiling!
