On this tour I will lead you on a food-packed morning eating some of Rome’s most loved food: pizza, mozzarella, salami and gelato. This 2 and a half hour tour takes us around the neighborhood of Campo de’ Fiori where small shop keepers continue the tradition of running specialized shops. We we’ll make the following stops along the way:

-Capuccino: We’ll get to know each other over a capuccino in one of the oldest coffee shops in the neighborhood.

-The Market: Campo de’ Fiori is the last surviving outdoor market in Rome. We’ll walk around looking at seasonal produce, while also discussing the changes in Roman shopping habits and tasting cured olives and sun dried tomatoes.

-Cheese Store: You’ll learn all about mozzarella, burrata and ricotta, and have a tasting while sipping aperitivi.

-Cured Meats Deli - This century old store focuses on one thing only: cured meats. We’ll taste salamis, prosciutto and more from all over Italy.

-Bakeries: We’ll stop by one of the oldest bakeries in the city and pick up such local favorites as pizza rossa and pizza bianca.

-Gelato: Our final stop is a sweet one. A cup full of artisinal gelato from one of the greatest ice cream makers not only in Rome, but in Italy.

{The price per person does not include the tastings, which add up to about 45 euros total}

If you're going to Rome, I highly recommend going on Sophie's your. She's an absolute sweetheart and knows all the good places to go. My husband and I did her tour on our first day in Rome, and I'm glad we did because we knew what yummy things to order on the rest of our trip thanks to Sophie. The places you stop are real Roman places, not tourist traps that act like they have been around forever. We had a fantastic time getting to sample all the different food Rome has to offer and would suggest Sophie's tour in a heartbeat.
